I think we can all agree, holidays are excellent.

I think the worst kind of pressure is the self-imposed deadline - though they can be useful in terms of motivation, they're hard to stick to, and missing one can make you feel far worse than if you were just trying to work on something at a more natural pace. I'm going to try to be more realistic with my deadlines, although also avoid being to lenient with myself (so that I actually get stuff done!). It's a difficult balance to strike.Dan Purduehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01633271913854946500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942294427695379658.post-29381608993206718662013-06-30T13:37:06.716+01:002013-06-30T13:37:06.716+01:00Your account of your holiday suddenly made me wish...Your account of your holiday suddenly made me wish to go on one myself. :)DRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13788359298040148878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942294427695379658.post-63584975036253457142013-06-27T18:00:51.931+01:002013-06-27T18:00:51.931+01:00Sounds like you had a lovely time. Sometimes it's about making yourself write when you don't feel like it, but we forget that sometimes it's about giving yourself some space so you actually can't wait to write again and so you have something to write about! Having failed miserably, I am now telling myself that, since I don't sleep at night anyway, I'll just write about 5,000 words per night because I can sleep in the sun all day.

Yeah, sounds like the perfect plan, eh?

You're absolutely right. We need to switch off sometimes. Having goals and deadlines is great, but if we don't meet them, we can't beat ourselves up about it.

I think I read this at just the right time. Bring on the sun and Ron Miele and I'll write when I get home.Karen Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17855965073232507189noreply@blogger.com
